The history of Piaget
Piaget is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in La Côte-aux-Fées, Switzerland. The company started out as a workshop producing watch movements, but it quickly expanded to produce its own watches. Piaget watches quickly became known for their high quality craftsmanship and innovative designs.
In 1943, Piaget became a registered trademark and two years later, a new larger manufacture was set up in their home of La Côte-aux-Fées, laying the groundwork for the Piaget we know today.
In 1957, Piaget introduced the Calibre 9P, the world's thinnest mechanical movement at the time. This was followed by the Calibre 12P in 1960, which was the world's thinnest automatic movement at the time. Piaget's ultra-thin timepieces quickly became the company's hallmark, and they are still considered to be some of the most impressive watches in the world.
In addition to its ultra-thin timepieces, Piaget is also known for its innovative designs. The company's watches are often characterized by their elegant and timeless lines, as well as their use of precious materials such as gold and diamond.
