Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC)
Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre. JLC is known for its Reverso watch, the reverso watch was designed in the 1930s for polo players who needed a watch that could withstand the rigors of the sport. The Reverso watch has a reversible case that can be flipped over to protect the crystal.
In addition to the Reverso watch, JLC also produces a wide range of other watches, including Master Ultra Thin, Polaris and Rendes-Vous. JLC watches are known for their elegant and timeless designs, as well as their high quality craftsmanship and innovative features.
History of Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC)
The history of Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) can be dated back to 1833, when Antoine LeCoultre founded a watch workshop in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. LeCoultre was a skilled watchmaker, and his watches quickly gained a reputation for their high quality and craftsmanship.
In 1866, LeCoultre invented the micrometre screw, a precision tool that is still used in watchmaking today. LeCoultre also invented other innovative watchmaking technologies, such as the millionometer and the keyless winding system.
In 1903, LeCoultre merged his company with Edmond Jaeger's company, which produced precision instruments. The new company was named Jaeger-LeCoultre.
In 1931, JLC released the Reverso watch. The Reverso watch was designed for polo players who needed a watch that could withstand the rigors of the sport. The Reverso watch quickly became one of the most popular and iconic watches in the world.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Swiss watch industry was hit by a crisis due to the quartz revolution. JLC was one of the many companies that were forced to adapt to the new reality. JLC began to produce quartz watches, but it also continued to produce high-quality mechanical watches.
In the 1990s, JaLC experienced a revival. The company began to produce new and innovative watch models, such as the the Master Grande Tradition collection. Today, JLC watches has become some of the most sought-after timepieces in the world.
